Summer Solstice

‘Tis the longest day of the year, my dear,
and seems likely ’twill keep us
parted ‘tween golden fingers, stretched,
webbed in a skein of summer’s shadows.
‘Tis the longest day of the year, my dear,
and ‘twould be a certain shame
if we were lost to Sunlight’s anguish
before Winter’s fete returned
to dance us cold again.
‘Tis the longest day of the year, my dear,
fret not, tho thine eyes do burn.
The morrow whispers promise sweet
retreat;  Await the winter-borne!
